Pets are a great source of joy in our lives. They offer companionship, cuddles, and purpose. Having something to love and care for can greatly impact your life for the better. This is especially true for seniors and other vulnerable populations in our community.
Pet therapy has been shown to greatly improve symptoms of anxiety and depression in seniors. Having a furry friend around can even lower your blood pressure and your risk of heart attack. We believe that it’s vital for the health and wellbeing of our seniors that they are able to keep their pets with them, no matter their mobility or financial issues.
That’s why CareLink created the Bone Appétit program.
Need Help Caring for Your Pet?
Bone Appétit is a free, need-based program for men and women aged 60 years and older who need extra assistance with getting food and other necessary items for their pets. This service is currently only offered in Pulaski County.
In order to reduce the risk of exposure for our clients, CareLink places orders via Chewy.com to have the items you need delivered straight to your door. We do not currently offer vet assistance or transportation, but we hope to partner with local providers to provide those services in the future.
How To Sign Up for Bone Appétit
If you live in Pulaski County, all you have to do to sign up for pet assistance is call Information & Assistance at (501) 372-5300.
You can also email us at info@CareLink.org. We’ll gather the necessary information from you and take it from there! If you qualify, you should start receiving shipments shortly.
What Items Can I Have Delivered Through Bone Appétit?
Bone Appétit can currently ship most of what’s available through Chewy.com. We cover items that are necessary for pets to remain safe and healthy. These necessary items include:
- Pet food
- Collars
- Leashes
- Name tags
We will update our list as our service offering grows. Eventually, we hope to include vet assistance, vet transportation, grooming services, and board services as needed.
