As you know, CareLink will be hosting a new special event, “Cupcakes for Goodness Sake” in the
fall. Local professional bakers and cupcake shops will be challenged to present
all-sweet, cupcake versions of Meals on Wheels. We promised more information
about the event and would like to start by introducing each of our four
participating bakers. First up: Christy Milligan, owner of Cupcakes on
Kavanaugh, Arkansas’ first cupcake bakery. With a background in food and nutrition, a cupcake shop isn’t the first place you would expect to find Christy Milligan, owner of Cupcakes on
Kavanaugh, but her knowledge of food has played an important role in her
business. Yes, she does sell sweets, but she prides herself on the use of quality
ingredients and “real” food. All of Christy’s delicious treats are
made from scratch using organic milk and fresh eggs.
Not only are Christy’s ingredients special; so are her recipes.
She still uses several that she learned from her grandmother. Others, like the
one she uses for her tasty vanilla cupcakes, she has worked on for years,
combining her favorite aspects of many different recipes.
Christy is excited to participate in CareLink’s “Cupcakes for
Goodness Sake” event. “It’s right up my alley,” she says. She is
looking forward to tapping in to her creative side to prepare for the event.
“It’s going to be fun!”
“Cupcakes for Goodness Sake” will be held Oct. 11 from 2-4
p.m. Tickets will be available beginning in early September. CareLink is currently
working to secure sponsorships for this event. All funds raised will help
provide much-needed meals for seniors in central Arkansas. If you or your
business is interested in supporting “Cupcakes for Goodness Sake,”
