As we get older, there are several factors that can get in the way of maintaining an exercise routine. Aches, pains, fear of injury, or just being too tired are all common problems we hear.

However, as the old adage goes, “a body in motion stays in motion.” The more you move, the more active, alert, and awake you feel each day!

CareLink’s staff works to keep group exercise engaging, offering classes with variety that keep you coming back for more.

How Can Group Fitness Classes Help Me?

Most of our members come to the fitness center solely for our group classes. If you are not already in an established exercise routine, you may feel uncomfortable joining a gym. With the different types of equipment to choose from, along with uncertainties with your specific medical conditions, you may be hesitant to join a gym at all.

However, since CareLink Fitness & Wellness Center is built just for adults over the age of 40, we are able to create workouts that are approachable and doable. Our group fitness classes offer variety and guidance, giving you something new to try with every visit to the gym.

One of the most important factors of group fitness is the sense of community you feel with us. Not only does group exercise hold you accountable, but it also allows you to meet new people and develop friendships. As older people retire and get older, their circles of friends and relationships can dwindle. Group fitness gives the opportunity to expand your networks, stay connected, and socialize in a fun, safe environment.

Depending upon your age, health needs, and interests, you may have an idea of what classes you may like at the center. Below, we have outlined some of our most popular classes, with descriptions of what you can expect at each!

Zumba® is a program that fuses hypnotic Latin rhythms and easy to follow moves to create a one of a kind fitness program that will blow you away.

Aqua Zumba®
Aqua Zumba® blends the Zumba philosophy with water resistance. There is less impact on your joints during Aqua Zumba® Class so you can really let loose. Water creates natural resistance, which means every step is more challenging and helps your muscles.

Strong by Zumba®
This class combines body weight, muscle conditioning, cardio and plyometric training moves synched to original music that has been specifically designed to match every single move. Every squat, every lunge, every burpee is driven by music, helping you make it to the last rep, and maybe even five more. You will burn calories while toning arms, legs, abs and glutes. Plyometric or explosive moves like high knees, burpees, and jumping jacks are interchanged with isometric moves like lunges, squats, and kickboxing. Bring your own mat.

Move with Balance
Easy-to-follow exercises are scientifically proven to help increase coordination, sharpen cognitive skills, improve vision, and enhance self-confidence.

Tai Chi
Medical authorities agree that suitable exercise for people with arthritis should incorporate components that can improve muscular strength, flexibility, and fitness. Increased muscular strength supports and protects joints, which will reduce pain. Flexibility exercises also help to reduce pain and stiffness, thus improving mobility. Stamina or fitness is important for overall health and proper function of your heart, lungs and muscles.
