CareLink’s mission is to connect older people and their families with resources to meet the opportunities and challenges of aging.
The role of the RN Independent Contractor within CareLink is to complete in-home assessments and develop service plans; thus, allowing the agency to fulfill its mission and meet the home care needs of vulnerable Arkansans.
Essential job functions of the RN Independent Contractor include receiving referral information from the Agency RN and completing assessments within established timeframes; developing service plans that include services and frequency of services needed; and completing timely reassessments.
Documentation requirements include completing assessment/admission forms and obtaining client signatures electronically. Additionally, service plan development is completed electronically. All documents are to be submitted to the Agency RN immediately upon completion. CareLink allows 24 hours after the assessment is completed to finalize the documentation. The 24-hour timeframe to process documents prevents delays in service implementation and allows the older adult to avoid or delay institutionalization.
RN Independent Contractors must have a current unencumbered RN license in Arkansas or a compact state; be a graduate of an accredited school of nursing; have one year of clinical nursing experience (home health or home care experience preferred), and have reliable transportation with a valid Arkansas driver’s license. Other requirements include passing a criminal background check, as well as adult and child maltreatment registry checks.
Knowledge, skills, and abilities needed to provide services for the Agency include:
- Knowledge of nursing procedures and protocols
- Ability to drive and make home visits
- Ability to carry 10 pounds and navigate steps, stairs, and uneven surfaces
- Ability to conduct an assessment and develop a written service plan
- Ability to communicate orally and in writing
- Ability to work independently
- Ability to use computer technology, including but not limited to spreadsheets, word processing, and database management software
Compensation for each home visit to complete an assessment and service plan will be $80 per visit. There is no travel reimbursement. Independent Contractor RNs may use their own laptop and cell phones to perform assessment functions. CareLink may opt to issue equipment to RN Independent Contractors on a case-by-case basis.
